Paintball Styles
A variety of styles for a variety of players
The game of paintball is attracting so many players because of its action and its versatility. You can play a game of instant recreational paintball anywhere really as long as you have some room. You could even play it with your little brother in the basement.
If you’d rather play a more organized game of paintball at a commercial playing site there’s also a lot of options. You can play arena paintball, field paintball, tournament paintball, and you can even play paintball online in front of your computer if you like. If you’re good enough you may even want to show off your skills by playing pro paintball. These options give everybody a chance to enjoy the game all year round, from the raw beginner to the seasoned sniper.
There are quite a few variations of paintball to play as well, and there are different rules in place for different types of games. You can play dozens of interesting games such as Capture the Flag, Speedball, Center Flag, Elimination, Foxes and Hounds, Paratrooper, Woodsball, X Ball, Reball, Blackjack, Attack and Defend, The Duel, Dynamite, Freeze Tag, Hostage Rescue, Sitting Duck, spy, Phantom, Musket Ball, Prize Collector, and Scenario paintball. If you’re just getting together with a bunch of friends out in the woods you can use your imagination and come up with your own version of paintball.
When all is said and done, there are dozens of different types of paintball games to play, but they really fall under two basic categories, which are rec ball and tournament ball. Rec ball just refers to recreational paintball and this is where most people start out playing the game. If they like it and excel at it, most of them will then move on to the more competitive action of tournament paintball. However, a lot of excellent paintball players like to stick to rec ball, as they have more fun there than they do in the more serious games of tourney ball. Some people are dedicated tournament players who even spend their spare time practicing; while others like to play both rec ball and tournaments.
In this section Guide2Paintball will explain the differences between arena paintball, tournament paintball, pro paintball, online paintball and tournament paintball. We’ll also explain how to play some of the most popular versions of the game and give you some info on paintball parks as well.
